In-season fruits and vegetables as well as some simple ideas to get into the spring spirit.

Let’s talk about what delicious fruits and vegetables are in season during spring. Keeping in mind that there are far more options that are in season but aren’t as low carb friendly. I tried making things simple and sticking to the ones that are more low carb.

For spring we have the following ingredients to enjoy: asparagus, broccoli, green beans, red leaf lettuce, rhubarb, spinach, and (my favorite) strawberries.

Below you’ll find some tasty recipes using in-season ingredients that are all low carb:

How do I plan on getting into the spring spirit?

I have a list of things I’d like to do this spring to get me in the spring spirit and keep me outside and active. My ideas are anywhere from a stroll to some floral scents.

Check my ideas to get into spring below:

Plant something green, preferably something tasty that I can enjoy in a few upcoming recipes.

Have a picnic at the park. There are so many quaint parks around me. I’d love to head over with some friends and have a healthy little meal on a picnic blanket, old fashion style.

Jog outside at least twice a week. This is a goal I’ve been trying to set for myself. Now with the warmer yet breezy weather I won’t have any excuses.

Take a hike somewhere scenic. I want to take a trip somewhere I could really explore. This would be a nice check mark and it’ll keep me active!

Ride my bike or roller blade once a week. I bought both a while back and haven’t gotten around to using either one much. So, I’m planning on using at least one each week.

Fly a kite, I haven’t done this in years.

Pick strawberries. There are a few local strawberry fields in the area that I’d like to experience. They’re also in season, so I’ll be able to throw them into a tasty recipe to share with all of you.

Experience the floral scents. I’ve always correlated spring to floral scents. One of my favorites being Peony. It can be a bit difficult trying to find the fresh flowers around me in Florida. But when I do, I make sure to grab a bunch for my mother and myself.

Since I don’t have the pleasure of enjoying a bouquet on a regular basis, I opt for one of my favorite products that is Peony scented, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Peony Hand Soap.

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Peony Hand Soap has aloe vera gel, olive oil, blend of essential oils and plant-derived ingredients. It’s great for those of us that tend to over work our hands to the point of dryness.

The ingredients they use are perfect for moisturizing and softening your hands. It’s the gold standard of hand soaps.

The packaging Mrs. Meyer’s uses is recyclable, BPA free, and at least 30% post consumer recycled material. Their products are all made without artificial colors, ammonia, phthalates, chlorine bleach, parabens, gluten, and phosphates. Talk about better for the environment!

Please, let me know if you give any of my suggestions a try!
